Description:
This position is for a Registered Nurse specialized in the Progressive Care Unit.
The facility has 241 licensed beds and is a Level 3 trauma center.
The unit consists of 32 beds.
The typical patient population includes those with CHF, dysrhythmias, chest pain evaluations, strokes, abdominal issues, respiratory conditions, diabetes, and acute kidney injury or chronic kidney disease.
The nurse-to-patient ratio is commonly 1:4 but may extend to 1:5 based on patient acuity.
Support within the department includes CNA assistance for activities of daily living.
Resources such as charge nurses are available to assist with nursing care.
Phlebotomy services are provided by trained staff.
Additional support includes a respiratory team available 24/7 and hospitalists and intensivists on-site.
Telemetry monitoring is conducted at both the bedside and nurses' station.
The electronic medical record system utilized is EPIC.
The IV pump system used is Alaris, while medication dispensing is managed by Omnicell.
Floating may occur within the region and scope of practice.
Travelers will be paid for travel time between facilities if floating mid-shift.
The unit fosters a family-oriented culture.
Weekend rotation is expected every other weekend.
Holidays require working 75% of the time.
Requests for time off can be approved for up to 6 days, excluding holidays.
Travelers are expected to add time to the end of the contract if unable to meet contracted hours.
The schedule cycle is every 6 weeks.
