Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Progressive Care Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 18 months in Progressive Care Unit License: Active RN License Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Essential nursing functions Teamwork and communication skills Experience with tracheostomies Cardiac medication infusion experience Cardiac rhythm interpretation Chest tube management Blood product administration Wound care and dressing changes Management of central lines Description: This facility has 58 licensed beds. It does not have a trauma designation. Travelers must have a permanent address at least 50 miles outside of the home unit. The unit comprises 33 beds. Common patient types include stroke rule out, pneumonia, cellulitis, failure to thrive, altered mental status, chest pain rule out, atrial fibrillation, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. RN-to-patient ratios are 1:5 to 1:6. Support staff in the department includes CNAs for activities of daily living, vital signs, and telemetry monitoring. Reception staff assist with call triage and administrative tasks. Charge nurses primarily have no patient assignments. Phlebotomy and IV/VAT teams are available. Resource nurses assist as staffing allows. Respiratory therapy services are available 24/7. Hospitalists are present 24/7, with a mix of in-person and virtual consultations. Telemetry monitoring is conducted at the nurses' station and in a central location. The electronic medical record system used is EPIC. IV pumps are Alaris, and medication dispensing is managed via Omnicell. Phillips telemetry monitors are utilized. Floating to other facilities within the region may be required based on staffing needs. Travelers will be compensated for time spent traveling between facilities if floated mid-shift. Scheduling includes a weekend rotation every other weekend and a holiday expectation of 75%. Up to 6 days off can be requested, excluding holidays, with required time added to the contract if hours cannot be met. Scrub color is navy blue.
