Job Title: RN - Progressive Care Unit Profession: RN Specialty: Progressive Care Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12hr Night Shift Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum 18 months PCU experience License: RN Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Essential nursing functions Teamwork and communication Experience with tracheostomies Cardiac medication administration Cardiac rhythm interpretation Chest tube management Blood product administration Wound care and dressing changes Management of central lines Description: This position is for a Registered Nurse in a Progressive Care Unit. The unit has 58 licensed beds, with 33 designated for progressive care. The patient population includes those with conditions such as stroke, pneumonia, cellulitis, failure to thrive, altered mental status, chest pain, atrial fibrillation, and COPD. Emergency and critical patient ratios are typically 1 RN to 5-6 patients. If applicable, LPNs will take primary nurse assignments within the same ratios as RNs. Certified Nursing Assistants will assist with basic daily living activities and vital signs for a ratio of 1 CNA for every 8-12 patients. Support roles include charge nurses, phlebotomists, and respiratory therapists available 24/7. Nurses will use an electronic medical record system for documentation and communicate effectively with team members. Floating to other facilities may be required based on regional needs. All travelers are expected to work every other weekend and 75% of holidays. This role emphasizes teamwork, patient care experience, and the ability to adapt to a close-knit unit culture. Scrub color is navy blue.
