Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Step Down Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 1.5-2+ years in Step Down and MS/Tele License: Valid RN License required Certifications: BCLS, ACLS Must-Have: 1 year of experience in MS/Tele 2 years of experience in Step Down Ability to read telemetry strips Description: Step Down / Immediate Care Unit RN for 3 nights, weekdays, and some weekends. Typically a 1:4 patient-to-nurse ratio, with flexibility to 1:5 in emergencies. Limit holiday time-off requests to no more than 2 of the 4 major holidays. Certifications required include BCLS and ACLS. Skills required: IV start and telemetry experience. This unit manages a variety of patients, primarily cardiac, including those recovering from surgical and interventional procedures. Daily census is approximately 34 patients with a total of 36 beds available. The unit receives interdisciplinary support from various services including physical therapy, respiratory services, and pharmacy. Nurses will be expected to manage tasks such as telemetry monitoring, IV management, and providing care for patients post-procedure. Candidates are required to have a permanent address within 100 miles of the facility. References from previous managers or charge nurses within the past 2 years are mandatory. Previous probationary actions on a license will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. Former permanent employees must wait 2 years from the last date of employment before returning to travel roles. Current employees are not eligible for travel contracts within the same health system. Charting system experience required is with Cerner.
