Job Summary

Preoperative Registered Nurse position located in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The role involves preparing surgical patients for surgery and providing phase 2 recovery services in a hospital setting. The candidate will support the units staffing needs during daytime hours, ensuring patient care standards are maintained.

Job Details

  • Schedule: 12-hour shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week, starting on 08/03/2026, with shifts beginning around 5:30 AM depending on surgery schedule. The schedule may include 4 days per week, with one closing day requiring staff to stay until the last patient leaves and to work after 7:00 PM. The unit does not operate on weekends or holidays.
  • Required Qualifications: Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS). Experience in IV starts, moderate sedation, preoperative and phase 2 recovery. Must have skills in IV starts and moderate sedation, and experience preparing surgical patients and providing phase 2 recovery services.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Experience performing procedures such as nerve blocks, arterial lines, central lines, and Swan-Ganz catheter placements. Certifications in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) are required.
  • Additional Information: Candidates must adhere to hospital-specific policies and guidelines. The unit recognizes staff efforts through awards and recognition programs.
