    Registered Nurse – PACU (Phase 1)

    Schedule / Job Type

    Contract | Days | Full-Time | Onsite | Monday schedule with four 9-hour shifts per week (7:00 AM–4:30 PM or 8:00 AM–5:30 PM)

    Key Responsibilities
    • Conduct postoperative assessments and monitor patient recovery in a 14-bed Phase 1 PACU at a 1:1–2 nurse-to-patient ratio
    • Provide pain management and implement recovery protocols for a variety of surgical cases including general, orthopedic, urological, vascular, and podiatric procedures
    • Educate patients and families on postoperative care instructions, medications, and follow-up appointments
    • Read and independently interpret telemetry strips; no monitor technicians are on unit
    • Manage ventilated patients recovering in the PACU, including ICU-level patients
    • Participate in on-call rotation: end-of-shift to start of next shift once per week, one weekend shift (Saturday or Sunday, 7:00 AM–7:00 PM, 24-hour availability) once per month, and potential holiday rotation with a 30-minute call response time
    Required Qualifications
    • Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license; any licensing history must be disclosed at time of submission
    • Minimum 1 year of PACU experience required
    • Demonstrated experience managing ventilated patients
    • Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required
    • Proficiency with Cerner EMR; facility is transitioning to Epic
    Preferred Experience / Skills
    • Experience recovering ICU-level patients in a PACU setting
    • Familiarity with Epic EMR in anticipation of upcoming system transition
    • Ability to function effectively in a charge nurse capacity with a light patient assignment
