Registered Nurse – PACU
LocationNew Orleans, LA
Schedule / Job TypeContract | Days (3x12 Hours, 8:00–20:30) | Onsite | 2–3 scheduled weekends per contract
Key Responsibilities- Provide pre-operative, Phase I, and Phase II recovery care to both adult and pediatric surgical patients across a high-volume, multi-floor surgical department supporting 34 operating rooms
- Support patients undergoing all major surgical services including endoscopy, interventional radiology, pulmonary lab procedures, CT/MRI, and regional anesthesia/ECT
- Float to pediatric PACU as needed, caring for patients of all ages in both pre-op and recovery settings
- Operate specialized equipment including Hoyer lift, bladder scanner, and AccuVein as required
- Maintain a 1:2 patient ratio throughout pre-op and recovery phases
- Participate in emergency team assignments as directed by unit management in the event of a declared emergency
Required Qualifications- Active Registered Nurse license – Compact or Louisiana license required and must be in hand at time of submittal
- Minimum 2 years of experience in PACU specialty
- Current ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications (AHA required)
- Proficiency with Epic EMR
- Must reside more than 65 miles from the facility (as verified by address on driver's license)
- NURSYS report required and must be current within 4 weeks of submission date
Preferred Experience / Skills- Background in PACU or Pre/Post-Op nursing strongly preferred
- Experience with regional anesthesia and/or ECT procedures
- Comfort caring for high volumes of pediatric surgical patients
