Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Rotating Shifts (Days, Evenings, Nights, Weekends/Holidays) | Onsite | Shifts vary between 8, 10, and 12 hours across ASU and PACU units; no guarantee of hours or shift preference; on-call required 0–3 times per month (8-hour nights and 24-hour weekends/holidays)

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide care for patients in pre-op, Phase I, and Phase II recovery settings
  • Monitor patients post-anesthesia, including assessment of incision sites, body temperature, and indicators of stability or complications
  • Demonstrate advanced knowledge of anesthesiology and post-anesthesia patient care
  • Utilize critical care skills to identify and respond to potential complications following surgery
  • Operate unit equipment including Meditech, PCA Pumps, Pyxis, Braun IV Pumps, Cryocuff, SCDs, Bair PAWS Warmers, HP Monitors, and Phillips Monitors
Required Qualifications
  • Active State of Hawaii RN license required by assignment start date; candidates without a current Hawaii license must apply upon acceptance of offer
  • Minimum 2 years of PACU experience, or 2+ years of critical care RN experience (ER or ICU) in a hospital setting may be accepted as a substitute
  • Valid BLS and ACLS certifications from the American Heart Association
  • Valid professional RN license within the state of practice
  • Proof of flu vaccination or a facility-approved medical or religious exemption required prior to contract start date
Preferred Experience / Skills
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) credential from the American Heart Association recommended and may be required for certain positions
  • Specialty-related certifications such as NIHSS or TNCC preferred and may be required for specific roles
  • Background in critical care and surgical nursing
