Description

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: PACU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day 4x10-Hour Hours per Shift: 10 Experience: 2 years of PACU RN experience required, preferably in a high acute care hospital, ICU experience required. Extensive cardiac/cath lab holding room experience required. License: CA RN Licensure Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS Must-Have: Knowledge of peri-anesthesia standards of care, airway management, nursing assessment parameters, and pharmacology. Description: The registered nurse provides individualized nursing care based on knowledge of basic competencies in the fundamentals of peri-anesthesia nursing and pharmacology. This position involves caring for geriatric, adult, and adolescent patients from admission through discharge. The role requires extensive knowledge of doses, purpose, interactions, side effects, and reactions to medications. The associated competencies include End-Tidal CO2 monitoring, abdominal aortic aneurysm repair, and airway assessment. Additional responsibilities include management of ventilated patients, post-cath lab procedures, and pain assessment and management. Candidates must be proficient in IV vasopressors, narcotics/opioid analgesics, and procedural sedation administration/monitoring. Familiarity with central line care, chest tube management, and interpretation and communication of lab values is essential. Successful applicants will participate in patient care for diverse age groups, including adolescents, infants, adults, and geriatrics. Daily census averages 40-50 patients with a staffing model that includes interdisciplinary support and rapid response teams. The unit has a patient ratio of 2:1 during the day shifts. Flexibility to float to other campuses is required if needed and if census permits. The role supports an environment that prioritizes patient safety, quality of care, and timely interventions.
