Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Post-Anesthesia Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 10 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience required License: Valid RN License Certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS preferred Must-Have: Previous charge experience preferred Description: Recovery of patients after procedures. Variable shift start times: 08:00, 09:00, 10:00, 12:00. Responsible for overall management of nursing care provided. Assures competent, compassionate, and cost-effective patient care from admission to discharge. Ensures safety, comfort, personal hygiene, and protection of patients. Performs disease prevention and restorative measures. Responds to medical and environmental emergencies. Plans and coordinates delivery of patient care to maximize efficiency. Sets priorities for and provides patient care in routine and complex situations. Serves as a liaison between nursing and medical staff for collaborative patient care. Coordinates involvement of patient, physician, family, and other health team members. Exercises clinical judgment and critical thinking in nursing process. Administers treatments, medications, and performs nursing skills timely. Maintains current knowledge of patient care status. Assures physicians are informed of significant changes in patient condition. Conducts initial and ongoing assessments of the patient and family. Completes nursing assessments within 24 hours of admission. Ensures nursing process is individualized to meet patient needs. Observes patient’s physical condition and behavior and interprets information. Identifies and monitors patients at risk for adverse events. Evaluates effectiveness of the plan of care through observation and communication. Modifies plan as appropriate in collaboration with patient, family, and healthcare team. Develops patient’s plan of care addressing biophysical, psychosocial, and educational needs. Documents patient assessment and plan of care accurately. Initiates follow-up activities as appropriate.
