Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Post Anesthesia Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 1 year License: Required AK RN License Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS Must-Have: Pediatric PACU experience preferred Description: Seeking a Registered Nurse for the Post Anesthesia Care Unit. The shift is 3x12 with variable start and stop times. Variable shift times may include 0700-1900, 0800-2000, 0900-2100, 1000-2200, and 1100-2300. First-time travelers are accepted. Must be able to work one weekend shift per month. On-call duty is required with one call shift per month. Nurses may need to float within scope to meet facility needs. Candidates must have Alaska RN License in hand for consideration. Guaranteed hours are 60 hours per 2 weeks. Travelers can be called off for one 12-hour shift per 2 weeks. Pre-approved time off must be included with the application. The facility is an Acute Hospital and a designated Magnet Facility. Staff may assist patients across various age groups, including neonates, adolescents, and geriatrics. Daily patient census is approximately 40. The unit has 16 patient beds. The position requires experience in phase I PACU and essential skills in IV management, patient assessment, and sedation monitoring. Additional preferred skills include care for ventilated patients, blood product administration, and pain management. Call requirements include one call shift per week, primarily overnight. Candidates must be able to arrive at the facility within 30 minutes of being called. Housing options may be limited in the area. Nurses are required to complete various modules, which are estimated to take an average of 16 hours.
