Shift Type: Monday-Friday, 8-hour day shifts with varied start times between 6:00 AM - 6:00 PM (Day shifts; 5x8 schedule; manager-assigned, flexibility requested)

Roles & Responsibilities
  • Provide exceptional post-anesthesia care in Phase I and Phase II, ensuring safe recovery and smooth transitions to the next level of care
  • Perform thorough pre-op assessments and prepare patients for procedures with attention to detail and patient comfort
  • Continuously monitor patients’ vital signs and cardiac rhythms, interpret strips, and respond appropriately to life-threatening rhythms
  • Chart accurately in MEDITECH and on paper (ORSC uses a mix), maintaining clear and timely documentation
  • Float between Mercy Medical Center (MMC) and ORSC recovery areas as needed, adapting quickly to different unit workflows
  • Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, charge nurses, and MAs to coordinate safe, efficient patient care
  • Educate patients and families on post-op care and discharge instructions to promote positive outcomes
Qualifications
  • Current RN licensure (OR license not required at time of submittal; facility will request a 90-day emergency license if needed)
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience (per job posting)
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications required; PALS preferred
  • Demonstrated experience with MEDITECH EMR required
  • Experience caring for Phase I and Phase II post-op patients
  • Comfortable reading and interpreting cardiac rhythms (RNs, not monitor techs)
  • Ability and willingness to float between MMC and ORSC recovery
Education
  • BSN not required (posting indicates BSN: No)
Knowledge & Skills
  • Post-Anesthesia Care (PACU) and Pre-Operative nursing skills
  • Meditech electronic medical record proficiency
  • Patient monitoring and cardiac rhythm interpretation
  • Familiarity with Phase I and Phase II recovery protocols
  • Experience with both electronic and paper charting workflows
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced OR/PACU environment and handle varied case volumes
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and patient education skills
