Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Shift Hours per Shift: 8:00 AM - 5:30 PM; On-call 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM, no more than 3 times in a 6-week schedule Experience: Minimum of 2 years of acute care RN experience required License: Registered Nurse Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Epic experience; strong skills in acute care nursing, patient assessment, care plan development, implementation, and evaluation Description: A professional nurse is accountable for the care of a group of patients. The Registered Nurse focuses on safe and effective patient and family-centered care. Customer satisfaction and quality outcomes are a priority. The RN is responsible for assisting in maintaining a financially stable unit. Promoting personal development with an emphasis on evidence-based practice and education is essential. The RN supervises licensed and non-licensed staff members. Using the Kristin M. Swanson Model of Care, the RN assesses, develops, implements, and evaluates the plan of care. Attention is given to patient and family comfort, education, and satisfaction. The RN applies educational and professional experiences in the delivery of quality care. Mentoring and precepting staff members is part of the role. Job Responsibilities: Performs assessments and reassessments per policy and procedure or as warranted by patient condition. Demonstrates the ability to make sound independent decisions. Initiates, prioritizes, and implements the plan of care; reviews and revises the plan as indicated. Collaborates with patients, families, and interdisciplinary services. Utilizes resources appropriately to support the needs of the organization, patients, and families. Monitors and documents response to clinical interventions. Facilitates, coordinates, provides, and evaluates education specific to patient and family needs. Delegates tasks to licensed and non-licensed personnel. Functions as a mentor and preceptor. Demonstrates, encourages, and facilitates teamwork. Identifies and communicates opportunities for improvement. Participates in quality, safety, and service process improvement efforts. Implements practice changes and complies with regulatory standards. Participates in the Practice Governance model.
