Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: PACU (Post Anesthesia Care Unit) Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Days Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years of PACU experience required License: Valid nursing license required Certifications: ACLS, BLS certification required Must-Have: Must pass dysrhythmia exam prior to acceptance. Description: Candidates must have a minimum of 2 years of PACU experience. ICU experience is required. Profile review by management will be conducted for interview selection. A 50-mile radius rule applies. All travelers must have their own vehicles. Candidates must maintain natural hair color and have no facial piercings. Men must be clean-shaven for fit testing. A pass/fail exam will be conducted on day one of orientation. All RNs will complete lab skills for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes. It is crucial to maintain a sterile field during all nursing tasks. Candidates indicating a lack of competency in required skills may not be suitable for this position. Additional educational sessions will cover lifts, restraints, and wound care procedures. Ratio of patients to nurses will be 1:2. The electronic medical record system used is Cerner. Charge nurse responsibilities will be present. Shifts will consist of three 12-hour days with no block scheduling allowed. There will be no requirement to float to other units. Common patient diagnoses include those recovering from cardiac procedures. The hospital reserves the right to cancel up to four shifts during a 13-week assignment. Candidates must be prepared for a fast-paced acute care environment.
