Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: PACU Duration: 12 weeks Shift: Rotating Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years strong ICU experience required License: Active RN license Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS Must-Have: Strong ICU experience Description: The Main PACU is a 28-bay unit providing specialized peri-anesthesia care to patients across the lifespan and spectrum of acuity. Vigilant pre and post-operative care is provided to inpatients and outpatients undergoing scheduled or emergency surgery. Nurses must demonstrate competence in titration of vasopressors. Airway management skills are essential. Care of ventilated patients is required. Blood product administration and fluid resuscitation are critical responsibilities. Nurses will have the opportunity to work with a variety of surgical and medical specialties, enhancing clinical experience. Weekend and holiday shifts are required as scheduled. Floating to other units may be necessary within the specialty. On-call shifts will be part of the routine schedule. Nurses will assist a permanent team member with pediatric patients, although they will not be required to recover true pediatric patients. The unit operates 24/7, providing care throughout the year.
