Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years in PACU or Pre/Post Op experience preferred License: Compact or state license in hand upon submission Certifications: ACLS, BCLS, PALS, NIHSS preferred Must-Have: Candidates must be comfortable floating to pediatric PACU as needed. Experience in critical care post-operative care is preferred. Epic charting system experience is required. Description: This position requires providing care for patients who have undergone major surgical services. The unit supports all surgical and procedural populations across pediatric and adult patient demographics. Nurses will care for pre-operative, Phase I, and Phase II recovery patients. The PACU provides pre/post-operative care for a high volume of surgical cases across multiple operating rooms. Candidates should be prepared to care for a diverse range of patients in both pre-operative and recovery settings. Special equipment includes Hoyer lifts, bladder scanners, and Accuvein devices. The patient-to-nurse ratio is typically 2:1 to 3:1. The role may include participation in an emergency response team as assigned by unit management. Candidates must be comfortable handling patients of all ages, including neonates, adolescents, and geriatrics. A variety of procedures are supported in the unit, including interventional radiology, endoscopy, and various surgical specialties. This position requires the ability to work with critical care overflow as part of the nursing team. All candidates must be prepared for a fast-paced work environment that involves a commitment to safety and patient care excellence. Nurses are expected to demonstrate skills in airway assessment, medication administration, and monitoring of post-operative patients.
