Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Monday - Friday Hours per Shift: 11:30 AM - 8:00 PM Experience: 1 year of experience in the related nursing specialty preferred License: RN License in state of employment or compact Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS or ENPC Must-Have: - Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing preferred - Current BLS certification - Current ACLS certification - Current PALS or ENPC certification Description: The competent nurse practices independently and demonstrates awareness of all relevant aspects of a situation. Provides routine and complex care with the ability to manage long-range goals or plans. Continues to develop the ability to cope with and manage contingencies of clinical nursing. Makes appropriate assignments and delegates to other care providers to help manage the clinical situation. Meets expectations of applicable competencies. Consistent with the nursing scope and standards of practice, provides nursing care utilizing the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients. Addresses increasingly complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families in accordance with their level of practice. Administers medications and treatments using appropriate protocols; monitors for side effects and effectiveness of prescribed treatment. Documents patient history, symptoms, medication, and care given. Assesses learning needs and provides education to patients, family members, and/or caregivers; identifies issues and resources. Completion of all annual competency verification requirements is necessary. A perioperative nursing residency or recent practice in an operating room/perioperative setting is preferred.
