Job Title: PACU RN Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Post Anesthesia Care Unit Duration: 16 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 8 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience required License: Valid Nursing License Certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS Must-Have: - Minimum 2 years of experience in the specialty - Traveler experience accepted for first-time travelers - Ability to work in an ambulatory/outpatient setting - Skills in starting and maintaining IVs - Experience with pre/post-operative care of patients - Knowledge of malignant hyperthermia protocol - Proficient in pain assessment and management Description: RTO (Request Time Off) after booking is not allowed and cannot be worked out onsite. Any call-offs or additional RTO on the unit could possibly result in cancellation. The average daily census is 40, with a total of 40 visits per day. The unit typically accommodates 9 rooms/beds. Shifts will be either 06:00 - 14:30 or 07:30 - 16:00. There is no call requirement, and floating to other facilities may occur rarely if needed. No weekend work is required. Patient age groups include infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics. The specialty of the unit includes eye and ENT patients. Key procedures involve BMTs, tonsillectomy, adenoid removal, sinus procedures, and cataract surgeries. Candidates must pass EKG testing prior to starting in this specialty. All candidates are expected to be open to floating within or near the facility as needed. Pre/Post-operative procedures include providing discharge instructions and obtaining operative/procedural consent. Follow-up phone calls and obtaining 12-lead EKGs or ECGs may be part of the responsibilities. Candidates should be familiar with emergency medications, narcotics/opioid analgesics, and reversal agents.
