Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours (19:00 - 07:30) Experience: Minimum of 2 years in Pediatric Cardiac ICU, CV and Pediatric experience preferred License: Active RN license in SC or Multi-State/Compact Certifications: PALS, BLS (AHA required), ACLS preferred Must-Have: VAD experience preferred First-timers accepted Description: The Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit is a 29-bed unit that provides specialized care for patients with congenital heart disease. This unit accepts patients of all ages based on care needs, focusing on both cardiac surgical and medical diagnoses. Common procedures include cardiac surgery, ventricular assist devices, heart transplant, cardiac catheterization, and various medical diagnoses related to cardiac care. The unit also offers ECMO, CRRT, and additional complex supportive therapies. Pediatric palliative care services are available as needed. The staffing mix includes Registered Nurses, Patient Care Technicians, and Unit Secretaries, along with ancillary supportive services such as Respiratory Therapy and Pediatric Dietitians. All beds in the unit are monitored. Patient diagnoses encompass all pediatric cardiac congenital conditions and related health issues. The unit requires VAD training upon arrival. Average daily census is around 26 patients. The facility is a Level I Trauma Center and a Teaching Facility. The unit focuses on multidisciplinary support encompassing various healthcare services. This opportunity involves working 4 weekend shifts within a 4-week schedule, and holiday rotations will be included. Travelers may be canceled for one shift in a two-week period based on facility needs.
