Job details:
Position: RN - Step Down / Progressive Care Unit (PCU) $$SN$$
Location: Anderson, Indiana
Shift: Nights – 18:00 - 06:30 | 36 hours/week
Duration: 13 weeks

Job Duties
• Provide specialized nursing care to medically complex patients requiring close monitoring and frequent assessments in a Step-Down/Progressive Care setting.
• Perform comprehensive patient assessments including respiratory, cardiovascular, neurological, and hemodynamic status.
• Monitor and interpret telemetry rhythms, vital signs, and laboratory results while escalating changes in patient condition.
• Administer medications safely, including IV medications and therapies according to provider orders and hospital policies.
• Manage patients with telemetry monitoring, IV drips, central lines, PICC lines, oxygen therapy, and CPAP/BiPAP as applicable.
• Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans.
• Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapy, rehabilitation services, case management, and interdisciplinary teams to support positive outcomes.
• Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions.
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR).
• Recognize signs of patient deterioration and initiate appropriate escalation of care.
• Follow infection prevention practices, safety protocols, and quality standards.
• May float to other medical/surgical units as needed.
