Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients requiring intermediate-level monitoring following ICU or high-acuity treatment
  • Perform detailed patient assessments and continuously monitor vital signs, cardiac rhythms, respiratory status, and neurological condition
  • Administer medications, IV therapies, blood products, and prescribed treatments safely and accurately
  • Monitor patients with cardiac, respiratory, neurological, and post-operative conditions, recognizing and responding promptly to changes in condition
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans
  • Operate and monitor telemetry equipment and other stepdown monitoring devices
  • Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, case managers, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams to coordinate patient care
  • Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, medications, treatment plans, recovery expectations, and discharge instructions
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR)
  • Follow infection prevention protocols, patient safety standards, and hospital policies
  • Deliver compassionate, patient-centered care while promoting positive clinical outcomes
Requirements
  • Active California Registered Nurse (RN) License
  • Minimum 2 years of recent Stepdown, Progressive Care (PCU), or Telemetry nursing experience
  • Current BLS Certification required
  • Current ACLS Certification required
  • NIH Stroke Scale Certification preferred
  • Experience with telemetry monitoring and caring for medically complex patients
  • Strong assessment, communication, clinical judgment, and critical thinking skills
  • Experience using electronic medical record (EMR) systems preferred
  • Ability to prioritize multiple patients in a fast-paced acute care environment
  • Commitment to delivering safe, compassionate, and patient-centered care
