Job Summary:
Neuroscience Step Down Nurse specializing in Neuro Stepdown and Epilepsy Monitoring Unit in Morgantown, West Virginia. This position involves providing specialized nursing care for high-acuity neuroscience patients, including stroke management and seizure protocols. The role offers night shifts with an emphasis on neuro experience and adherence to strict clinical protocols.

Job Details:

  • Schedule: Nights - 3, 12-hour shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, with a minimum of 48 hours per week. Flexibility for three consecutive shifts is preferred but not guaranteed.
  • Required Qualifications: Valid BLS and NIHSS certifications; minimum of 2 years of clinical nursing experience in a neuroscience or trauma setting; neuro experience and NIHSS card required at time of submission; experience with stroke patients and implementing NIHSS protocols.
  • Preferred Qualifications: ACLS certification preferred; prior experience with titrating titratable and set-rate drips such as Amiodarone, Cardizem, Nitro, dopamine, Nipride, Ketamine, Lasix, Bumex, and Insulin.
  • Unit Information: Epilepsy Monitoring Unit and Neuro Stepdown with 25 Stepdown beds and 6 EMU beds; nurse-patient ratios of 1:3 for Stepdown and 1:5-6 for EMU; RN staff must be Stepdown qualified.
  • Additional Information: All RN's on this unit should have strong neuro experience, be NIHSS certified, and prepared to care for high acuity neuroscience patients. RT available 24/7 for vent management; telemonitoring present but nurses are not required to read strips.
  • Shift Notes: Four night shifts per week, weekends and holidays as scheduled. Flexibility required for weekend rotations.
  • Licensing and Submission: Willing to wait for license approval; BSN required; no trauma level specified.
