Job Summary
A Step Down Unit Registered Nurse position is available in Peoria, Illinois. This role involves providing care for patients with a wide range of medical conditions, including COPD, CHF, DM, sepsis, and respiratory issues, among others. The RN will be responsible for managing a patient load with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 3 to 1 or 2 to 1, performing titration of specific drips, and collaborating closely with charge nurses and house supervisors. The position requires adaptability to float to ICU or other units as needed and completing both classroom and on-the-floor orientation.
Job Details
- Schedule: 12-hour shifts, 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM, with a minimum of 36 hours per week
- Required Qualifications: Illinois license or confirmation that the application process has been initiated; BLS certification (American Heart Association); minimum 1 year of clinical experience; active IL license or confirmation that application process has been initiated; authorized to submit license; no previous experience specified for minimum years required
- Department: Stepdown | Beds: 20 beds (8 private rooms and semi-private)
- Nurse Patient Ratio: 3 to 1
- Patient Conditions: patients with COPD, CHF, DM, sepsis, renal issues, DKA, alcohol withdrawal, overdoses, pneumonia, respiratory conditions, neuro/surgical/cardiac patients, trach/vent patients, chest tubes, G-Tubes, NG tubes, PICC/Central Lines
- Certifications: BLS required; ACLS recommended
- Experience or Skills: ICU/Intermediate nursing experience with trach and ventilator management; capable of titrating drips such as Cardene, Cardizem, Amio, Dobutamine, Heparin, and vasopressors; able to read bedside monitors (all patients are on Phillips monitors) and interpret strips alongside tele techs
- Shifts & Scheduling: Positions available for 12-hour shifts, with alternating weekend and holiday rotations; no call or standby; float requirement applies, including potential assignment to ICU if extensive ICU experience is held
- Dress Code: Any color scrubs
- Orientation: 1 day for EPIC, 1 day for unit orientation, and 1 day on the floor with an RN
