  • Patient Population: Adult medical oncology patients with progressive care needs
  • Float: Required to comparable PCU or Med-Surg oncology units as needed

Job Requirements

  • Active RN license in hand at time of submission
  • At least 1 year of recent acute care experience in a high-acuity PCU, stepdown, telemetry, or oncology nursing setting required
  • Recent, consistent experience in the specialty is strongly preferred
  • BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
  • Experience with dysrhythmia interpretation and telemetry monitoring
  • Ability to manage high-acuity patients with strong attention to infection prevention and fall precautions
  • Comfort working in a collaborative, fast-paced oncology and progressive care environment
  • Previous travel nurse experience preferred
  • Ability to float within units of equivalent or lower acuity
  • Reliable professional references and timely credentialing compliance

Responsibilities

  • Provide safe, high-quality nursing care to adult patients requiring progressive care and telemetry monitoring
  • Monitor cardiac rhythms, interpret dysrhythmias, and respond appropriately to changes in patient status
  • Administer medications and manage therapies including blood products, heparin protocols, PCA, and cardiac drips without titration as ordered
  • Support vascular access and line care including ports, peripheral IVs, PICCs, and central lines
  • Assist with feeding tube care, chest tubes, tracheostomy management, and non-invasive airway support such as CPAP/BiPAP and HFNC
  • Use critical thinking and rapid response resources to escalate care when needed
  • Maintain a strong focus on infection prevention, patient safety, and fall reduction
  • Collaborate closely with the interdisciplinary care team to promote positive patient outcomes
  • Document accurately in Epic and maintain professionalism in a fast-moving clinical environment
