Job Summary:
A Step Down Unit registered nurse position is available in Bismarck, North Dakota. This role involves providing specialized care for adult and geriatric patients with cardiac and medical diagnoses, including post-procedural care for cardiac caths, EP studies, pacers, and management of acute and chronic conditions such as pneumonia, COVID-19, sepsis, and influenza. The position requires the ability to interpret cardiac strips and manage titratable drips, with a focus on patient monitoring and support across a range of clinical scenarios.
Job Details:
- Location: Bismarck, North Dakota
- Shift: 12-hour shifts, with scheduling considerations for rotating days and nights; shifts are generally from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. or 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.
- Schedule: 36 hours per week, with potential for block scheduling based on unit needs
- Certifications Required: Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Qualifications: Minimum of 2 years of nurse experience; valid license; proficiency with the Epic charting system preferred; comfortable with first-time travel assignments and interpreting cardiac strips
- Unit Notes: The unit operates with a nurse-to-patient ratio goal of 1:4-5, with occasional 1:3 for overflow; team includes patient care technicians and telemonitor techs; RNs are responsible for troubleshooting ventilators (Vents, Cpap, BiPap, High Flow, etc.), and reading cardiac strips.
- Patient Care: Adult and geriatric patients with cardiac conditions, post-procedure patients, and those with complex medical needs such as sepsis, influenza, or COVID-19.
- Additional: Orientation includes two 12-hour shifts (Friday and Saturday) during the first week; candidates may be asked to float to other areas as needed; scrub color provided.
- Other Requirements: All candidates must meet radius restriction of 50 miles from the facility; RTO (Reason To Offer) requests must be made upfront and are limited to seven days within a 13-week contract.
