Job Requirements

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice or compact licensure
  • Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
  • PCU, stepdown, telemetry, or critical care nursing experience preferred
  • Experience with ICU-level patients as needed
  • Experience with vents and trachs required
  • BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS required
  • Successful completion of a dysrhythmia exam required
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced progressive care environment and float as needed
  • Strong assessment, communication, and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to safely manage complex lines, drains, and respiratory support devices

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality patient care using the nursing process from assessment through evaluation
  • Monitor and manage patients with complex medical and cardiac conditions in a PCU/stepdown setting
  • Provide care for patients requiring respiratory support, including trachs, vents, BiPAP, CPAP, and high-flow oxygen
  • Support patients receiving fixed-rate drips and escalate care appropriately when titration or higher acuity support is needed
  • Care for patients with central lines, PICCs, midlines, chest tubes, NG tubes, PEG tubes, and other advanced devices
  • Float to ICU or Med/Surg Tele as needed based on patient needs and unit demand
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate safe, efficient care
  • Educate patients and families while promoting safety, comfort, and positive outcomes
  • Respond confidently to changing patient conditions and maintain composure in a high-acuity environment
