Job Summary
Medical Surgical Orthopedic Floor Nurse Corpus Christi, TX. This position involves providing patient care on a busy orthopedic and medical surgical unit. The role requires working in a compassionate and efficient manner to meet the needs of diverse patient populations in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Job Details

  • Shift: Days, 12-hour shift, minimum of 36 hours per week
  • Required Qualifications: Valid nursing license in the state of Texas; BLS certification; ACLS certification; no minimum experience required (0 years minimum); location in Texas, willingness to work days; appropriate educational background for RN licensure
  • Preferred Qualifications: Meditech experience; telemetry experience
  • Float: Float rotation may be required
  • Additional Information: The unit has 25 beds with a staff of over 40 healthcare professionals, including RNs and PCTs. Patient ratios are approximately 6:1 or sometimes 5:1. Common procedures include management of chest tubes, non-titrated Cardizem and Amiodarone drips, and weight-based heparin drips. The team utilizes Baxter IV Pumps, KCI wound vacs, and SCD pumps. Standard EMR system used is Meditech. The unit maintains a professional dress code requiring royal blue scrubs.
