Registered Nurse – Ambulatory Operating Room
LocationCharleston, SC
Schedule / Job TypeContract | Onsite | Days | 4x10-hour shifts (6:30 AM – 5:00 PM) | Occasional late shifts a few times per month
Key Responsibilities- Prepare patients for surgery by reviewing medical history, reconciling home medications, obtaining vital signs, performing EKGs as applicable, initiating IV access, and administering IV fluids, antibiotics, and pre-operative medications as ordered
- Provide post-anesthesia recovery care including monitoring vital signs through all phases of recovery and reviewing and delivering discharge instructions
- Discharge post-operative patients safely via wheelchair to vehicle
- Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and OR nursing staff to deliver safe and effective patient care in a fast-paced ambulatory environment
- Care for patients across a variety of surgical specialties including Orthopedics, Interventional Radiology, and GI procedures
- Float within the perioperative facility as needed to meet departmental needs
Required Qualifications- Active South Carolina RN license or valid Compact RN license (SC license must be active prior to start date)
- Current BLS certification
- Minimum of 1 year of operating room or perioperative nursing experience
- Experience in one or more of the following specialties: Ophthalmology, Orthopedics, ENT, GYN, GU, Endocrine, Surgical Oncology, Plastics, Robotics, or Total Joints
- No first-time travelers; prior travel nursing experience required
Preferred Experience / Skills- Well-rounded experience across multiple ambulatory surgical specialties aligned with the unit's caseload
- Familiarity with pre-operative and post-anesthesia care unit (PACU) workflows in an ambulatory setting
- Experience with Interventional Radiology or GI procedural patient care
