Description: To provide nursing care for patients following established standards and practices in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act. To apply professional nursing theory and practice to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care. Constant interaction with internal and external customers to include patients, families, physicians, employees, and visitors. Perform patient assessments reflecting physical, psychological, socio-cultural, spiritual, cognitive needs, and functional abilities. Plan and prioritize care based on the assessment, evaluate patient progress, and revise care to attain expected outcomes. Demonstrate clinical competencies in the specific area of practice as described in departmental performance standards. Assess patient/family learning needs, provide education, and evaluate the effectiveness of teaching. Identify and respond appropriately to ethical issues in patient care. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, core measures, patient safety, and quality initiatives to achieve optimal clinical and organizational outcomes. Frequent standing, walking, bending, crouching, and stooping required. Frequent lifting/moving patients and intermittent lifting, moving, or carrying, pushing, or pulling up to 50 lbs. Frequent use of finger/hand dexterity and constant reaching with hands/arms required. Frequent talking or hearing with corrected hearing and vision to normal range. Exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissue; possible exposure to infectious materials and communicable diseases. Intermittent exposure to risk of exposure to blood-borne pathogens. Moderate noise level in the work area. Requires work under stressful conditions, deadlines, or irregular hours. May be required to take call and/or work weekends/holidays based on the needs of the department.
