Description:
Functions as Surgical First or Second Assistant to the surgeon for complex and basic operative or invasive procedures.
Responsible for performing a variety of procedures or may specialize in a surgical specialty where appropriate.
Performs responsibilities of a Surgical Technologist if required but preferably not simultaneously while functioning as first assist.
Facility is a Level III Trauma Center and Level III NICU with Magnet Designation and a Primary Stroke Center.
Patient types include Neuro/ENT, Orthopedic, General, Vascular, Laparoscopic, General Oncology, Genitourinary (GU), Gynecology (GYN), and Robots.
Candidate must have a strong background and familiarity with specific procedures, especially for Vascular, Robots, and ENT.
Support on the unit includes Charge Nurse, Leads, and Supervisors.
Charting system in use is EPIC.
Cross-trained to all Main OR specialties and Urology center.
Variable start times for Day shift range between 5:30 AM to 7:00 AM.
Holiday work expectations may be variable.
Surgical scrubs are provided.
Scrub caps are allowed but must be covered by a surgical bouffant.
