Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Surgical Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum one (1) year of relevant nursing experience required. License: Active RN License in good standing required. Certifications: BLS certification required. Must-Have: Trauma 1 experience required. Inpatient facility experience required in the last year. Description: The staff Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility for a group of patients for a designated time frame. The RN provides care to patients via the utilization of the nursing process, nursing trends, and technology. The RN performs all responsibilities and duties required by the unit as specific to the scope of service. The RN implements procedures and theories related to the specific area of practice. Maintains up-to-date and accurate documentation of nursing care provided to assure the integration of information for use by the healthcare team. Completes initial assessment upon patient admission and develops an appropriate plan of care based on patient and family needs. The RN implements the plan of care, nursing interventions, and patient care procedures. Modifies the plan of care based upon continuous evaluation. Takes responsibility for patient and employee safety by reporting and correcting safety hazards and incidents. Communicates with others directly and in private when necessary to resolve issues. Offers constructive feedback to assist in the professional development of peers. Confers with colleagues to expand knowledge base. Identifies own learning needs and takes initiative to begin appropriate solutions. Fulfills all requirements of departmental competencies. Provides post-operative care for the complex surgical population. Assesses and intervenes appropriately to ensure positive outcomes during the post-operative phase. Monitors and cares for newly tracheostomies. Assesses and maintains wounds that require complex wound management. Assesses, manages, and educates patients and families on new ostomies. Works collaboratively with residency services.
