They practice in a clinical environment administered by Nurse Managers and other leaders. The practice is supported through a shared governance model. The framework for practice is guided by professional practice models, evidence-based practices, and nursing research. As a member of the patient services team, the individual is expected to uphold the voice of the patient and system policies while supporting service excellence goals. The RN performs the Nursing Process, including assessment; diagnosis; identifying outcomes; planning; implementation; and evaluation. They utilize analytical/critical thinking to ensure that care is individualized while coordinating care through effective partnerships. Patient-centered care is consistently provided in a manner that reflects understanding of cultural diversity. The RN partners with patients and significant others appropriately, with a focus on making the patients' goals the priority in the care plan. They practice using current clinical practice standards and coordinate the delivery and documentation of safe, quality patient care. Demonstrating teamwork and collaboration is crucial in promoting a respectful and inclusive clinical environment. Participation in performance improvement initiatives is expected, including research utilization and support for stakeholder inclusion. The RN is responsible for completing professional competency assessments and required education continuously. In addition, serving as a preceptor or mentor for other nursing professionals is part of the role to ensure a qualified workforce. The RN promotes evidence-based practice and nursing research while participating in data collection and posing relevant clinical questions. They are involved in developing protocols and procedures to achieve best practice outcomes, such as reducing readmission rates and adverse events. Support for efficient use of resources is a key responsibility. Additional duties may be assigned as necessary. The RN complies with all organizational policies, standards, and regulations related to the role.
