Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Oncology Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 1 year experience required License: Must have active Illinois license in hand or be in application process to apply Certifications: BLS required; Chemotherapy certification preferred Must-Have: - Chemotherapy administration skills - IV therapy and infusion skills - Experience with accessing and managing ports Description: Position is for an Oncology/MS RN. The average daily census is 24 patients with 24 rooms/beds. First-timers are accepted. Will work every other weekend. Required certifications include BLS and preferred chemotherapy certification (OCN and ONS/ONCC). The clinician may float within the scope to meet facility needs. Candidates must be open to discussing schedule requests with the manager. Must be able to work 2 out of 3 major holidays. Ideal time off restriction is no more than 5 days. If candidates are placed on-call in lieu of being called off, that will count as a cancelled shift. The unit provides interdisciplinary support including physical therapy, respiratory services, social services, pharmacy, and more. Primary specialties include oncology and hospice care. Candidates must be able to manage chemotherapy administration and recognize abnormal lab values. Additional skills required involve IV push administration and care of central lines. Healthcare professionals will need to have experience with managing side effects of treatments and educate families and patients. Travelers will float within the hospital or to an affiliate hospital as needed.
