Job Title: Registered Nurse - Oncology Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Hematology/Oncology Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Days Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 1 year of experience required License: Current RN License issued by the state board of nursing or a current multistate compact RN License Certifications: - Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association - Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) from the American Heart Association - Fundamentals of Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Administration Certification from the Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) - ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Certificate from the Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) Must-Have: - Associate's Degree in Nursing from an accredited program Description: Under general supervision, provides nursing care in a hospital to patients with health problems ranging from simple to complex. Assumes responsibility for an assigned group of patients. Documents patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments. Notes all changes in physician orders for assigned patients. Assists physicians in the examination of patients and in performing minor diagnostic procedures and treatments. Obtains and monitors physiological data of patients. Observes physiological manifestations of patients and intervenes when necessary. Administers medication as prescribed. Initiates, regulates, and monitors intravenous infusions and blood products. Delivers patient care competently. Interacts with family and patients to share the care plan while in the hospital and at discharge. Informs patients and families of hospital procedures.
