Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Surgical Oncology Duration: 16 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours (19:00 - 07:30) Experience: Minimum of 1 year of Medical Surgical and Oncology experience, Heme Onc experience is strongly preferred. License: Valid nursing license required Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) required. Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) Chemotherapy Certification preferred. Must-Have: - Computerized charting experience, specifically EPIC - Skills in Medical-Surgical/Telemetry - Telemetry monitoring and interpretation of dysrhythmias - Blood product administration and central line management Description: The unit specializes in Bone Marrow Transplant and Oncology nursing care. It accommodates a mixed acuity patient population. Patients are typically undergoing various forms of stem cell transplants including autologous and allogeneic transplants. Specialties include treatment for Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, Acute Myeloid Leukemia, Hodgkin's Lymphoma, and Multiple Myeloma, among others. Heavy emphasis is placed on infection prevention protocols and fall prevention. The unit is equipped with B450 monitors, GE telemetry systems, bladder scanners, and Alaris pumps. Staff members work collaboratively with interdisciplinary support including physical therapy, respiratory services, and social services. Candidates should be prepared for a dynamic environment that may require floating to other units as needed.
