Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Oncology Chemo Certified Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years required. License: NC or Compact license required at time of start. Certifications: Must have ONS/ONCC chemotherapy certification. Must-Have: Experience in an inpatient setting required. Must be able to administer chemotherapy if needed. Description: Seeking Med/Surg skilled Registered Nurses for a Medical-Surgical/Oncology unit. The primary patient population includes general medical-surgical diagnoses with an oncology history. The nurse-to-patient ratio is targeted at 1:6. Floating may be required to similar units or alternate care locations. Every other weekend work is required. Attendance at monthly staff meetings is required. Daily census is approximately 42 patients. During times of increased census, typical ratios may be higher. Contract staff will be assigned equally to ensure patient coverage with a registered nurse. Candidates must have experience with colostomy care, accessing ports, blood product administration, and central line blood draws. Experience with peripheral line care/management, PICC line management, heparin, insulin, surgical drains, chest tubes, nasal cannula, and non-invasive airway management is essential. Knowledge of isolation precautions, wound care, and wound vacs is required. Daily responsibilities include the administration of chemotherapy and biotherapy via IV, PO, or injection. Staff may be involved in caring for patients with various conditions, including AKI, sepsis, cancer, septic shock, and diabetic foot ulcers. Additional skills in managing dysrhythmias, oxygen administration, and patient monitoring are preferred. The role may involve responding to catastrophic events, mass casualties, or disasters as needed. Candidates should be flexible and open to floating within the hospital based on patient care needs.
