Job Title: Medsurg/Onc Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Medsurg/Oncology Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Days, every other weekend, first to float Hours per Shift: 36 hours per week Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Required Certifications: BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Experience with trach and BiPAP preferred, but not required. RNs required to titrate drips including Lasix and Heparin. Charge Nurse available on each shift as a resource. Description: Unit is focused on oncology care and is required to administer chemotherapy. The unit has a total of 31 beds with a nurse to patient ratio of 1:4-5 during the day and 1:5-6 at night. Common diagnoses include strokes, hypertension, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, cellulitis, congestive heart failure, and atrial fibrillation. Patients may include adults and geriatrics, with some tele monitoring involved. There are nursing assistants/patient care technicians on the unit providing support with a ratio of 1:8. RNs are expected to troubleshoot respiratory equipment such as BiPAP, stable trachs with blow-by oxygen. There are telemetry monitor technicians present to assist RNs with reading strips, which RNs are not required to interpret. The schedule is managed by the unit manager with a possibility for block scheduling if unit needs are met. Weekend requirements consist of every other weekend, and holidays are needed as scheduled. Floating to other Medsurg units may occur when necessary. The unit has a great culture and emphasizes teamwork and support for travelers. RTO needed upfront (7 or fewer days per 13-week contract). Cancellation policy includes 4 shifts per contract, or 3 shifts if the contract is under 13 weeks. Charting system utilized is EPIC. BSN is not required. Trauma level of the facility is 2. Care setting is acute. Division is nursing.
