Description

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Oncology Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 Years of Oncology Experience License: Compact License Required Certifications: BLS Required Chemo Certification Required OCN Preferred Must-Have: Must have 2 years of recent oncology experience. Chemo certification is required. Description: All previous permanent employees of any affiliated facility must be separated from the health system for a minimum of 3 months to qualify for a travel position. Minimum experience required is 2 years. First-time travelers are accepted. Floating may be required to meet unit staffing needs, potentially to similar units. Certifications needed include BLS and chemo certification. Preferred certification includes OCN. Experience with medical-surgical oncology patients is essential, including conditions such as leukemia, lymphoma, and multiple myeloma. Experience with research and clinical trials, including CART and stem cell transplant is a plus. Required skills include knowledge and management of chemotherapy administration, managing ports, and care for inpatients in oncology. Additional preferred skills include chest tube set-up and care, CPAP/BiPaP knowledge, procedure sedation, and care of drains and feeding tubes. Candidates must be capable of monitoring chemotherapy, recognizing and communicating abnormal lab values, and managing tracheostomy care. Knowledge of handling body fluids post-chemotherapy is crucial. Daily census in the unit includes approximately 25 patients. Patient ratios consist of 4-5 during the day and 5 at night. Interdisciplinary support is available through multiple services including physical therapy, social services, and pharmacy support. Candidates will be assessed based on their ability to meet required skills and experience for the oncology unit.
