Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN UP Specialty: Observation T Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 hours (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM) Experience: Minimum one (1) year of relevant nursing experience License: Illinois state RN License in good standing Certifications: BLS (American Heart Association) Must-Have: Current Trauma 1 experience between 6 months to 1 year and EPIC experience Description: The staff Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility for a group of patients for a designated timeframe. This position provides care to patients utilizing the nursing process, nursing trends, technology, and human resources. Performs all responsibilities and duties required by the unit specific to the scope of service. Implements procedures and theories related to the area of practice. Maintains up-to-date and accurate documentation of nursing care provided to assure the integration of information for use by the healthcare team. Completes initial assessment upon patient admission and develops an appropriate plan of care based on patient and family needs. Implements the plan of care, nursing interventions, and patient care procedures. Modifies the plan of care based on continuous evaluation. Takes responsibility for patient and employee safety by reporting and/or correcting safety hazards and incidents. Communicates with others directly and privately when necessary to resolve issues. Offers constructive feedback to assist in the professional development of peers and confers with colleagues to expand the knowledge base. Identifies own learning needs and takes initiative to begin appropriate solutions. Fulfills all requirements of departmental competencies. Assesses IV sites every 4 hours. Starts new IVs per policy. Maintains documentation standards as evidenced by passed quarterly chart audits. Attends 5 out of 6 staff meetings per year. Identifies changes in patient status and responds appropriately. Required skills include patient care, nursing process, IV site assessment, IV insertion, and documentation. Additional skills include patient assessment, care planning, nursing interventions, critical thinking, multicultural sensitivity, English fluency, and basic computer knowledge. Proficient in word processing, spreadsheet applications, email, web browsing, and EPIC. Required education includes ASN, preferred education is BSN.
