Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Labor and Delivery Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-Hour Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years in Labor and Delivery Charge or Nurse Manager roles License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, Advanced Fetal Monitoring Must-Have: 2 years of Labor and Delivery Charge or Nurse Manager experience. Description: Telemetry, Labor and Delivery, Emergency, and Critical Care RNs will take a proctored Dysrhythmia Test onsite, day one. This is a PASS/FAIL test. The unit includes 19 postpartum beds, 12 Labor and Delivery beds, 2 operating rooms, and 1 PACU. Ratios are 1 to 4 for postpartum and 1 to 1 for Labor and Delivery. The facility follows state-required ratios. The electronic medical record system in use is Cerner and Fetal Link for surveillance. The charge nurse is a Clinical Supervisor available 6 out of 7 days, with a staff Team Lead. A Nurse Manager is available Monday through Friday. Nurse aides are not present; OB techs are available to scrub and cover the desk. Weekend requirement includes 3 weekend shifts in a 4-week schedule, with Saturday and Sunday days and Friday and Saturday nights. Holidays will follow the permanent staff holiday rotation. Scrubs will be provided by the facility. Telemetry is not utilized; Phillips is used for fetal monitoring systems. Ventilation support is not provided; there is a Laborist (OB Doctor) in-house 24/7. An IV Team is not available. Respiratory Therapy is available 24/7. Pharmacy services are available 24/7. Shifts are from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM for both days and nights. Floating may occur to Pediatrics, where the same patients taken on postpartum will be managed. For NICU, only feeders and growers will be taken if the nurse has prior experience in this area. Floor-specific orientation lasts 3 shifts if circulating is possible; otherwise, it lasts 2 shifts. Circulating is not required as there are staff members available to perform this task. Common diagnoses include low and high-risk deliveries, with a Level III NICU available. Babies that have known congenital defects requiring immediate surgery will be transferred out. Peak times for patient volume occur in July and October. The hospital can cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment. Charting system is Cerner. COVID vaccination is required. This is an acute care setting, and the trauma level is 2.
