Supervisory experience required. License: Registered Nurse (RN) licensure required. Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required. Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification required. Fetal Heart Monitoring (FHM) certification required. Must-Have: Current Epic experience required. Description: Provides unit-based leadership working collaboratively with the Nurse Manager, Director, Physicians, and staff. Supervises and directs activities of assigned nursing and ancillary personnel using professional and supervisory discretion and independent judgment. Ensures that all patients receive cost-effective, professional care resulting in positive outcomes and high patient satisfaction while maintaining the highest level of patient safety. Assesses and takes steps to improve quality of patient experience. Essential Functions: Provides unit-based leadership in the development and provision of clinical services. Supervises and directs unit personnel. Initiates and coordinates individual and team conferences with health team members, patients, and/or families to develop and revise care plans for optimal patient care. Directs and monitors personnel in the performance of patient care activities to ensure adequate patient care and quality of work. Participates in patient care as needed. Fosters an environment of patient and family-centered care with special attention to diversity and personal needs. Makes rounds to overview patient care needs and introduce self to patients and families. Solicits feedback on the quality of nursing services and any other concerns. Develops strategies with management to improve customer satisfaction for patients, families, and physicians. Investigates and resolves patient care and operational issues as needed. Recommends policy and procedure changes in collaboration with management. Ensures compliance with safety goals as identified by regulatory bodies and hospital policy through unit management and participation in performance improvement teams. Works closely with clinical team members to implement systems or staff development activities to facilitate their ability to meet patient, family, and physician needs. Assesses the staffing requirements of the unit on an ongoing basis. Manages the number of assigned personnel based on determination of patient acuity and needs, and available skills. Assigns staff to patients and care activities according to professional and supervisory analysis of effective utilization of skills and abilities, patient needs, and to equalize workloads. Arranges for staff relief for meals and breaks. Reviews and takes action on requests to adjust schedules, including requests to come in late, leave early, or utilize sick time. Involved in evaluating the performance of unit employees. Coaches and disciplines personnel as deemed appropriate, including issuing warnings and suspension. Directly involved in decisions to hire and terminate personnel. Instructs new personnel on job duties and assignments. Works to assure that the department and equipment are maintained in a safe and operational state. Facilitates the repair of broken or malfunctioning equipment. Ensures the cleanliness of the department. Keeps management informed of unit activities, incidents, and special needs in a timely manner. Manages staffing costs effectively. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
