Job Title: RN, Nurse Lead Profession: RN Specialty: Nurse Lead Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 hours (1800 - 0630) Experience: Minimum of five years’ technical experience preferred; supervisory experience required License: Registered Nurse (RN) licensure required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP required; clinical specialty and/or nursing administration certification preferred Description: Provides unit-based leadership working collaboratively with the Nurse Manager, Director, Physicians, and staff. Supervises and directs the activities of various levels of assigned nursing and ancillary personnel. Uses professional and supervisory discretion and independent judgment. Ensures that all patients receive cost-effective, professional care resulting in positive outcomes and high patient satisfaction. Maintains the highest level of patient safety. Assesses and takes steps to improve the quality of patient experience. Initiates and coordinates individual and team conferences with health team members, patients, and/or families. Revises care plans for optimal individualized patient care. Directs and monitors personnel in the performance of patient care activities. Participates in patient care as needed. Fosters an environment of patient and family-centered care with special attention to cultural diversity and personal needs. Makes rounds to overview patient care needs and to introduce self to patients and families. Solicits feedback on the quality of nursing services and any concerns. Facilitates ongoing assessment of department operations and patient care processes for improvement opportunities. Facilitates data collection by staff members and participates in unit quality activities. Assesses staffing requirements of the unit on an ongoing basis. Manages the number of assigned personnel based on patient acuity and needs. Assigns staff to patients and patient care activities according to professional assessment. Arranges for staff relief for meals and breaks. Reviews and takes action on requests to adjust schedules. Plays a significant role in the evaluation of unit employees’ performance. Coaches and disciplines personnel when appropriate. Directly involved in decisions to hire and terminate unit personnel. Instructs new professional and ancillary personnel on job duties and assignments. Works with facility services to ensure the department and equipment are maintained in a safe and operational state. Facilitates the repair of any broken or malfunctioning equipment. Ensures cleanliness of the department. Keeps leadership informed of unit activities, incidents, and needs in a timely manner. Maintains staffing costs within targeted budgets. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
