Job Title: RN, Nurse Lead Profession: RN Specialty: Nurse Lead Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 8 Experience: Minimum five years of technical experience and supervisory experience or demonstrated supervisory skills. License: Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state of practice is required. Certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS required. Must-Have: Bachelor’s Degree in nursing or equivalent combination of education and related experience is required. Master’s Degree is preferred. Description: Provides unit-based leadership working collaboratively with the Nurse Manager, Director, Physicians, and staff. Supervises and directs the activities of various levels of assigned nursing and ancillary personnel using professional and supervisory discretion and independent judgment. Ensures that all patients on the unit receive cost-effective, professional care that results in positive outcomes and high patient satisfaction while maintaining patient safety. Assesses and takes steps to improve the quality of the patient experience. Fosters an environment of patient and family-centered care with special attention to cultural diversity and personal needs. Makes rounds to have an overview of patient care needs and introduces self to patients and families. Solicits feedback on the quality of nursing services and addresses any concerns. Develops strategies with the Nurse Manager/Director to improve customer satisfaction for patients, families, and physicians. Investigates and resolves patient care and operational issues as needed. Ensures compliance with Patient Safety Goals and hospital policies. Works closely with the clinical team to implement systems or staff development activities to facilitate meeting patient, family, and physician needs. Provides ongoing assessment of department operations and patient care processes for opportunities to improve. Assesses the staffing requirements of the unit and manages the number of assigned personnel based on patient acuity and needs. Assigns staff to particular patients and patient care activities based on effective utilization of skills and abilities. Reviews and takes action on requests to adjust schedules, including requests to come in late, leave early, or utilize sick time. Plays a significant role in the evaluation of unit employees. Coaches and disciplines personnel when deemed appropriate, including issuing warnings and suspension. Directly involved in decisions to hire and terminate unit personnel. Instructs new personnel on job duties and assignments. Facilitates the repair of any broken or malfunctioning equipment and ensures the cleanliness of the department. Keeps the Director informed of unit activities, incidents, and special needs in a timely manner while documenting pertinent information. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
