Job Summary:
Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Nurse in Tacoma, Washington. This role involves providing specialized neonatal care for critically ill newborns in a high-acuity environment. The position requires a dedicated professional to support a comprehensive team delivering exceptional patient care.

Job Details:

  • Position: Neonatal Intensive Care Unit Nurse
  • Schedule: Night shifts, 12 hours per shift, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
  • Required Qualifications: Valid Washington state nursing license, BLS (Basic Life Support), PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support), NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program); 5 years of experience in Pediatric Emergency Department (ED) or Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) with at least 1 year each, plus a minimum of 3 years neonatal/pediatric transport experience within the last 5 years.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Certifications in TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) and STABLE are preferred.
  • Patient Types and Diagnoses: Neonatal and pediatric patients with conditions such as hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy, perinatalHI, asthma, respiratory illnesses, sepsis, diabetic ketoacidosis, metabolic disorders, trauma (accidental and non-accidental), ingestions, congenital heart defects, cancer, necrotizing enterocolitis, among others.
  • Technology/Equipment: Phillips monitor, Hamilton ventilator, Braun and Baxter IV pumps, Tecotherm, Zoll defibrillator, TXP, Cross Vent, Zoll emsCHARTS, EPIC electronic medical records system, Stryker gurney, transport isolette, ambulance and aircraft equipment. A safety day training will be part of orientation.
  • Additional Information: The team consists of 1 Registered Nurse, 1 Respiratory Therapist, and an EMT driver partnered with NW ambulance for ground transport and Airlift Northwest for air transport, including fixed and rotor wing. When not transporting, may assist in various units where needed. The program serves a region including eastern Washington.
