Experience in a hospital setting within the last year. Drip management experience. Experience with home trach vents preferred. Description: This position requires a thorough understanding of neuro-focused care. Common diagnoses include strokes, seizures, spinal injuries, and neurological specialties. Experience with trauma orthopedic injuries is valuable. Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:4-5 during the day and 1:5-6 at night, depending on patient acuity. The role involves titrating drips such as Heparin, Nitro, Diltiazem, Amiodarone, 3%, and Insulin. There are nurse aides on the unit, with ratios of 1:9 during the day and 1:12 at night. The unit has respiratory equipment including vents, trachs, CPAP, and BiPAP. RNs are expected to read tele monitoring strips. Self-scheduling is encouraged, with the manager balancing shifts. Weekend work is required every other weekend. Holiday shifts typically require staff to work 2 to 3 holidays during winter. Floating to sister units may be necessary. Solid color scrubs are required. Orientation consists of one general shift and another shift with a preceptor.
