Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Neuro Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours (19:00 - 07:30) Experience: Minimum 2 years in Neuro ICU required; will accept first-time travelers with strong skills and experience. License: Active RN state license Certifications: BLS, ACLS required; CPI and NIHSS preferred. Must-Have: - Every other weekend required - On-call may be required - Floating required within the specialty - Experience with a patient ratio of 1:2, up to 3 with stable, lower acuity patients Description: This position is for a Neuro RN working nights in a critical care environment. The focus is on providing comprehensive care for complex neurological and neurosurgical conditions. Common patient diagnoses include acute ischemic stroke, intracerebral hemorrhage, and traumatic brain injury. Special procedures performed include ICP monitoring, external ventricular drain management, and continuous EEG monitoring. The average daily patient census is 21, with a total of 22 beds in the unit. Interdisciplinary support is available from physical therapy, respiratory services, and pharmacy teams. Candidates should possess skills in managing ventilated patients, interpreting dysrhythmias, and administering emergency medications. Successful candidates will demonstrate competency in high-acuity care and the use of specialized medical equipment. Continuous collaboration with neurology and neurosurgery teams is essential. Compliance with safety protocols and infection prevention is expected. Weekends and holidays are required as scheduled.
