Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Client Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Days Hours per Shift: 48 Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience required. License: Current RN License Certifications: Current Basic Life Support certification Must-Have: Stroke experience and NIHSS certification preferred. Ability to precept and possibly work in a virtual room. Description: Under general supervision, provides nursing care in a hospital to a variety of patients with health problems ranging from simple to complex. Assumes responsibility for an assigned group of patients. Documents patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments. Notes all changes in physician orders for assigned patients. Assists physician in the examination of patients and in performing minor diagnostic procedures and treatments. Obtains and monitors physiological data of patients. Observes the physiological manifestations of patients and intervenes when necessary. Administers medication as prescribed. Initiates, regulates, and monitors intravenous infusions and blood products. Delivers patient care competently. Interacts with family and patients in sharing care plans during hospitalization and at discharge. Informs patients and families of hospital procedures. Makes referrals regarding patient care needs to appropriate personnel. Delegates tasks to support staff. Performs other duties as assigned. We are a comprehensive stroke center. Ratios for stroke patients are 3:1 and for all other patients, 5:1. Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, techniques, and procedures is required. Ability to organize, plan, coordinate, and evaluate nursing services is essential. Maintains good working relationships with other employees. Exhibits good verbal and written communication skills. Responds effectively to cultural and language needs of patients and visitors. Some computer skills are necessary. Education requirements include an Associate's Degree in Nursing from an accredited program. A Bachelor of Science in Nursing from an approved program is preferred.
