Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Neuro Telemetry Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: 12 Hours Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: - Level 1 Trauma experience - Must be able to Titrate drips, Amiodarone, Cardizem, and Insulin Drips - Competency in Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes Description: MUST HAVE LEVEL 1 TRAUMA EXPERIENCE. 50-mile radius rule applies. Every RN will be expected to complete a skills lab for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes. Additional skills lab components include lifts, restraints, and wound care education. The ability to maintain a sterile field is crucial, as failure to do so can result in termination during the skills lab. Candidates lacking competency in essential nursing skills may not be a good fit. Nurses are expected to manage a 1:4 patient ratio. Patients may include those with tracheostomies, CVA, TBI, spinal surgeries, encephalopathy, ESRD, and psych issues. The unit operates with a fast-paced environment and has a high turnover rate. All nurses are required to take light patient assignments while serving as charge nurse. Nurses are also expected to interpret EKGs and manage central monitoring. The average length of stay for patients is 4-5 days. Nurses may float to telemetry units and tele overflow in the ICU. The hospital can cancel up to four shifts during a 13-week assignment. Bedside reporting is practiced. Nurse aides support the team during both day and night shifts. Scrubs are to be steel gray in color. Support services, such as pharmacy and respiratory therapy, are available 24/7.
