Key Responsibilities
  • Provide routine and complex nursing care to neonatal patients ranging from feeder growers to complex ICU-level neonates in a Level 4 NICU setting.
  • Utilize the nursing process — including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation — for assigned patients in accordance with ANA Scope and Standards of Practice.
  • Administer medications and treatments per appropriate protocol; monitor for side effects and effectiveness of prescribed treatments.
  • Address complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families consistent with level of practice.
  • Document patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided accurately and thoroughly.
  • Assess learning needs and provide education to patients, family members, and caregivers; identify issues and connect with appropriate resources.
Required Qualifications
  • Active RN License in the state of Texas or a compact state license.
  • Current BLS Certification (American Heart Association only).
  • Current NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) Certification.
  • Current STABLE (Post-resuscitation/Pre-transport Stabilization Care of Sick Infants) Certification — Participant, Lead Instructor, or Support Instructor level.
  • Minimum of 1 year of NICU nursing experience.
  • Availability to work 4 weekends per six-week period, including two Mondays and two Fridays.
Preferred Experience / Skills
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
  • Experience in a Perinatal setting or completion of a Perinatal RN Residency program.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex, contingency-based clinical situations and make appropriate care assignments and delegations.
