Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care in a Level 4 NICU setting with a 71-bed unit, including 17 stepdown beds, caring for premature infants and neonates with cardiac defects, genetic disorders, surgical needs, and patients requiring ECMO and cooling therapies.
  • Maintain nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:2 (ICU) and 1:3 (Level 2 stepdown), delivering safe and competent care in accordance with unit policies.
  • Utilize Cerner EMR for accurate and timely documentation of patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including 24/7 Neonatologist and midlevel coverage, Respiratory Therapy, and NICU Pharmacy support.
  • Float as needed to mother-baby and labor care units for newborn care assignments.
  • Participate in a Day 1 SIMs Lab assessment covering Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes, demonstrating competency in sterile field technique.
Required Qualifications
  • Active RN licensure in good standing.
  • Minimum 3 years of NICU experience at a Level 3 or Level 4 facility.
  • Current BLS and NRP certifications required.
  • Cardiac STABLE Plus certification required.
  • Demonstrated competency in sterile field technique, including Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes.
  • Ability to work every 3rd weekend and 3 of 6 major holidays.
Preferred Experience / Skills
  • Previous travel nursing experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with Cerner EMR and Phillips telemetry systems.
  • Experience caring for ECMO and therapeutic cooling patients in a high-acuity NICU environment.
